And we Called it a Hike

So trying to get back in shape and lose my baby belly I suggested we go hiking on Saturday. We went up Squaw Peak in North Phoenix and I almost died. First of all it was nearing 100 degrees, there was only the shade of a cactus to cool you down, and it was straight up, not to mention I have not done much exercise since I was 6 months pregnant so my muscles are like jello.
Side Note: Hikes in Phoenix, Arizona are a little different from all other hikes in the world. There are about a thousand people that hike these trails every Saturday, no joke; it is not a peaceful walk in the woods to enjoy your solitude. Most of the trails are paved and it is pretty smoggy as these little mountains are surrounded by city. Quite different from the trails in Utah we are used to.
So we decided to take Anna as she reached her 5 week birthday and is now old enough to go hiking. We bought her a cute little sun hat, (ok, the sun hats in the boys section were on sale and the pink one's weren't) put her in the baby bjorn (thanks Trisha) and hit the trail. You see we want her to be a good hiker so we decided to start training her early. She loved it as you can see in her expression in the picture below. Happy day now that Kent can take his turn carrying her up the mountains.

  1. I love it. Little Anna "the hiker" :) I'm glad you have found places to hike in Arizona. If you are ever feeling like you need a good Utah hike though, let me know:)
