O Christmas Tree

IMG_0576

This year, for the first time Kent and I bought our very own Christmas tree. We went to the Christmas tree lot with the girls and looked around for a beautiful tree of our very own. Anna was very excited and kept pointing at all the trees. It was so fun to be there buying a tree for myself with my own kids!!!!

All my life I have gone with my parents and siblings to get a tree, a much looked forward to event for us while growing up. My siblings and I would be so excited running and jumping around the lot searching for the perfect tree for our home. The smell of pine would permeate our noses and the cold air turn our cheeks pink. We would try to persuade the others to vote for this tree or that, and my dad would always try to persuade us to get a smaller tree and use the extra money to help someone our for Christmas. My dad would set the tree in our stand and we would decorate it with all our ornaments collected over the years. I loved the smell of Christmas that the tree bought into the home and starring into the lights at night that illuminated the tree and the room.

And now going to the tree lot with my own children was so neat. I said to Kent, “I feel like we are a real family now, us with our 2 kids looking for a Christmas tree!”  We found a beauty, tied it to the top of the car with our newly purchased stand and brought it home. The girls were fascinated and Anna thought it was the greatest thing that we were bringing a tree into the house. Our home now smells like the Christmas’ I’ve always known.

  1. I love this post! You are a real family! I especially got a kick out of the picture with Anna's chair and Elise's little seat--what are they called? Bumbo? I don't know, but that was pretty cute. They were gathered around like it was a campfire or something. How cute. Miss you guys!
