We went to mom and dad’s house to celebrate the 4th for a BBQ and fireworks with some cousins and grandparents. The kids loved the little firework show that Danny put on and waving around their sparklers magic wands.
A couple days earlier we went to see Mesa's big firework show with the girls. When the fireworks and let off the big booming noise the girls both got very scared. Elise calmed right down but Anna started crying and would not look at the fireworks for several minutes. I finally had to convince Anna that they were little sparkly fairies yelling yeah, horray, boom boom, before she would watch the rest of the show.
Anna’s hair is finally getting a little longer, though her bangs still haven’t grown more than an inch since she was born. Her favorite hair style is the bouncy pig tails. After I put them in her hair she likes to stand in front of the mirror, jump up and down, and watch them bounce.
I also decided to try to French braid Anna’s hair for the first time and it worked out pretty well and she liked it.
When Anna gets bouncy pigtails Elise asks for bouncy hair too. Hers is barely long enough to put in piggys and after a day at church ends up looking pretty frazzled. I love her cute short look though.
The girls love to have popcorn parties. They like to pull chairs up to the counter, pour the popcorn in the air pop popcorn, push the button, and watch it pop. Then we usually go sit somewhere on the floor together or outside and gobble it all up; a fun, yummy snack.
At breakfast time the girls and I like eating green smoothies. They get a kick out of their green mustaches and make silly faces to go along with them.
The bear slippers come out pretty frequently in our house too. Everyone walks around growling, it gets pretty scary.
The girls are always begging for a story. They also like to take their dolls for walks, make pretend birthday cakes and pies with blocks or macaroni, ride bikes, swim, play with bikes, chase each other, watch moves and make great big messes, and help with everything. But their favorite thing is to go to Nana’s house. Oh and they just got done with two weeks of swimming lessons. Anna cried the first three days but then did great and Elise hated loved it but hated getting her head wet or going under.
The girls are always playing together. When Elise takes a nap in the middle of the day I will often hear Anna say, “When Elise wakes up…” or “When is Elise going to wake up?” She really misses her sister when they are apart for only two hours. I try to do preschool stuff with her during that time.
Elise is a funny girl. She will randomly come up to us and say,”funny faces,” and make the silliest faces. She is the sweetest girl too and will give us lots of kisses and loves. Tonight when I was laying next to her to help her fall asleep she sat up and said, “kisses baby,” lifted up my shirt and kissed my pregnant belly. Then she got her extra pillow and put it on my belly and said, “pillow baby sleep.” She wanted to make sure baby had a pillow to sleep on too. She is also a stubborn girl. We just started potty training yesterday, and she will not sit on the toilet unless she wants to. She will say, “No!” emphatically, or say, “want to,” which Elise’s language means she doesn’t want to. But when she actually does really well when she wants to.
And yes I am 6 months pregnant now and that baby is kicking and wanting a name.
I am in love with Anna's curls!!! She has such pretty hair. And so does Elise. So cute that Elise is already so nurturing to her baby sister. She's going to be such a good big sister to the baby!! You have the best pregnant belly ever! It's perfect.
