Barks Canyon in The Superstitions

   IMG_1777IMG_1779    IMG_1778IMG_1771

We went hiking last night in Barks Canyon of the Superstition Mountains. We were trying to find the gold mine of the lost Dutch man and ended up finding a huge black tarantula, the size of my hand, instead.

This was a hurrah, summer is over so lets get outside, hike. There really are a lot of cool rock formations in the Superstitions and lots of prickly plants.

Happenings

There was a huge storm that blew threw AZ the other day so we went out to splash in the puddles at the park and look at the overflowing ponds.

I got domestic and bottled peaches and pears with grandma and Trisha. Yep building the food storage.

Anna is getting into everything and pulling books off the shelf while I am going crazy chasing her down. Time for another child proofing the house party.

Anna turns the light off on us whenever we try to change her diaper; thanks Anna. I guess that’s what we get for putting her changing table under a light switch. Whenever she takes a bath she can’t seem to grab hold of the water; that dang water!

Oh no, She Thinks she is a Climbing Monkey!

Yep, we are in BIG trouble. We have a climbing monkey on our hands!!! I really don't know who taught her this but I don't like it one bit. She climbs up on the couch, on the chairs, the railings of her crib, up on the sliding mirror closet doors, into her car seat... and she is not very stable. She has fallen and hit her head about 10 times today alone.

And then when she gets up and standing she gets this little rascal grin, as if to say, "look at me I am up again."
So lucky me, I am chasing her around the apartment all day, good thing it is small, and catching her or making sure she is not going to bang her head on anything sharp or hard. I have given up keeping her off the side of the couch. By now I have decided that when she falls backwards and hits her head on the carpet, tough luck to her, she won't die.

So to add to her newly acquired climbing sport, today she learned to shuffle that little body alongside the couch to get to the other side and around the corner. Oh great. I really just want to take a nap.

Some more great coming homes to...

A while back I mentioned how right before I walk in the door from work, Kent often dresses up Anna or putts her in some great, funny poses, then he hides. So when I open the door after a long day at the hospital, I see Anna just sitting there in living room in some ridiculous or cute pose and I can't help but laugh. Anna usually looks up and smiles or laughs too as if to say, "look at me mom, do you like it?!" Here are a few that are a must see...

The grooving guitar playing cowgirl pose.
The laying out, trying not to burn my beautiful leg rolls, beach bum pose.
The get into my mama's dress, and laugh about it, little Daynita pose.
The "I am a perfect angel" pose.
The cook'n up something yummy in my apron pose.

My dad

If Anna could talk she would probably say: I have the best dad. He takes care of me all day when my mom works. He takes me on walks, and to the park, and plays fun games. He tries to tickle me and make me laugh, he changes my stinky diapers, feeds me, comforts me when I am crying, gives me baths and helps me fall asleep. He takes me to Elder's quorum with him every Sunday and even dresses me in cute dresses for church when my mom is at meetings.
I really look up to him.
I think he is handsome and fun.
I have the best dad.
